~ Hendrickson Hatch Catch &
Release Fly Fishing Tournament 2010 ~
FISH THE GREAT SALMON RIVER!
During the first weekend of June Malone, New York will host the 7th Annual Hendrickson Hatch Fly Fishing Tournament. Anglers are invited to come to town June 4&5, 2011 to fish one of the North Country's most productive streams, the Great Salmon River. Flowing north through Franklin County, the Salmon River drains the foothills of the Adirondacks and winds its way through the town and village of Malone before dumping into the St. Lawrence River. Interested anglers may print a mail-in brochure for registration in this year's tournament. Members of the Malone Revitalization Foundation would like to thank all sponsors for supporting this event. Please visit the links below to learn more about this year's tournament sponsors. Special thanks to Brookfield Power for being a premier sponsor for the 6th consecutive year.
River Update - July 21, 2010. Sorry I have been a little behind at river updates. The Salmon River has been doing very well this summer. We have had regular rainfall so water temperatures remain pretty cool even though air temperatures have hit the 90s a few times. The water should be in great shape for the end of July. We had some very heavy rain today so the water is presently a little dark. Turbidity will probably still be pretty high tomorrow as well. Based on the forecast conditions should be great for the upcoming weekend and next week. No major surface hatches going on presently. I have noticed some stoneflies in the air - I suspect they are emerging at night. Caddis dry flies are working on the surface and the usual underwater patterns (wooly buggers and stoneflies) are always productive.
Happy Fishing! John
