FISH THE GREAT SALMON RIVER!

River Update: July 2, 2009 - 3:45 pm - Over the past two days the Malone area has had frequent thunderstorms with periods of heavy rain. The result is a somewhat high and pretty dirty water condition. Water temperatures continue to hold in the mid sixtys. For those planning to fish over the 4th of July holiday weekend, expect higher than normal water that may be off color. I suggest using lighter colored large nymphs with a dropper. Good luck on the water!

Malone, New York will host the 6h Annual Hendrickson Hatch Fly Fishing Tournament. Anglers are invited to come to town June 5&6, 2010 to fish one of the North Country's most productive streams, the Great Salmon River. Flowing north through Franklin County, the Salmon River drains the foothills of the Adirondacks and winds its way through the town and village of Malone before dumping into the St. Lawrence River.

A CATCH AND RELEASE BUDDY TOURNAMENT

RULES:

Fishing will take place on the Salmon River between the Chasm Falls dam and State Route 37 in Westville, NY. A map of the Salmon River will be given to each participant for a reference. Access to the river must be public and legal. Please respect all posted and private property. Fishing licenses are required for ages 16 and up.

REGISTRATION:

Registration will take place at North Country Community College between 8:00 and 9:45 am on Saturday morning. Registration fee is $30. (Kids 12 & under, $15) Registation fee includes miscellaneous gifts at registration, an invitation to Saturday evening's reception at Gallagher's restaurant, and a ribs and chicken BBQ on Sunday afternoon. Registered anglers will also be entered into a drawing for miscellaneous door prizes on Sunday afternoon. Family members are invited to the BBQ for $10. Kids eat free!

All tournament proceeds go to the Malone Revitalization Foundation for continued enhancement of the Salmon River.

AWARDS / PRIZES:

Plaques will be awarded to the top 3 winning anglers based on the total number of inches accumulated. A plaque will also be awarded to the angler with the largest trout landed and released. All registered anglers will be entered in a drawing for the chance to win miscellaneous door prizes.
